ABOUT THE SACRED MUSIC PROGRAM

The AMDG Foundation, an apostolate of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius, presents a sacred music program that offers a unique experience of choral Masses and masterworks of sacred music. Unlike performances in concert halls, these works are sung as an integral part of the liturgy, as the composers intended, within the sacred context of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. While performances are often held at St. John Cantius Church, this program is an initiative of the AMDG Foundation, under the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius.

At St. John Cantius Church, you can experience choral masterworks from the Church’s treasury of sacred music, including compositions by Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Palestrina, and others. The Mass is sung in Latin, the Church’s official language, accompanied by Gregorian Chant performed by our Schola Cantorum, all within the glorious splendor of St. John Cantius Church.

The AMDG Foundation’s choirs enhance Divine Worship with sacred music from the Renaissance era, the Viennese choral tradition, and modern choral works that align with Roman Catholic tradition.

Unless otherwise noted, Gregorian Chant propers and ordinaries of the Mass are sung every Sunday at the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Ordinary Form of the Mass (2002 Missale Romanum) and the 12:30 p.m. Extraordinary Form of the Mass (1962 Missale Romanum). Music is performed by the parish choirs and in Latin, unless otherwise indicated.
